Why do DVD/CD Burners burn at a lower speed than the drives capacity?
I have a 16X drive. Sometimes I am lucky if it caps out at 11X for a second. The media I use is always 16X. I understand the concept of hard drives being smaller because of hierarchy file structures, but why do DVD/CD burners drop to small speeds.
Please dont post I dont know answers. If you dont. thats perfectly fine. But its a waste of everyones time. Thanks.
Your media may say it is capable of 16X speed but in reality it isn’t. Try a different brand of blank DVDs/CDs. It’s sort of like the gas mileage advertisements for a car, yeah you can get 35 mpg but under ideal conditions, going downhill with the wind at your back. I have had some CDs burn at rates faster than rated, some slower, just depends on the data and what else is running at the same time on your computer.
